We were delighted to welcome 16 Primary 3 pupils from Renton Primary School to the Cordale Team for the day as part of their ‘My World of Work’ Topic earlier this month.
The children had a busy morning meeting the Cordale team and being introduced to the world housing. The children along with staff from the school, Housing Officers Lisa-Marie Brown and Geraldine McKenzie, Maintenance Officer Alec Drain, and Community Engagement Officer Nancy Robertson visited a void property and completed the void inspection then completed an estate inspection on the walk back to the office. The busy group of enthusiastic new recruits finished off their time at Cordale by helping to log a repair request that came in during their time in the office.
At the end of the visit a number of the children had decided they wanted to work in housing; one girl declared she’d changed her mind on her future career and wanted to be a Housing Officer just like Lisa-Marie!
Nancy Robertson Cordale Community Engagement Office said “Cordale were delighted to accommodate Renton Primary School’s request to visit the association as part of their ‘my work of work topic’. We all had a great time meeting the children and working with them; the children were a credit to the school. “
Nancy continued: “We are impressed that the world of work is being introduced to school children at such an early age. The day was a great opportunity to let the children know what we do and encourage a future generation of housing staff. ”
