Cost of living support

Rising energy, fuel and food costs are having a significant financial impact on people in our communities. If you are struggling financially there is a range of support and help available. Support can be provided for anyone who needs it. Whether you are in employment, on a low income or claiming benefits, you may be able to receive help to afford essentials like bills and food.

Getting Help With Essential Costs

Your local council might help you pay for things like:

  food

  your energy and bills

essential items – for example clothes and household appliances

This help is known as ‘welfare assistance’ or the ‘Household Support Fund’. Each council runs their own scheme. Welfare Rights Team are there to ensure that you are not missing out on entitlement to benefits and other related help by providing a free, confidential and impartial benefits advice and information service.  You’ll need to check with your local welfare rights team if you can get support and what type of support you can get.
